I am a native Texan who retired to Sedona five years ago. I have 2 grown children, a son and a daughter, and my husband, John Gafford. I have a Masters and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and spent  27 years as a Research and Development scientist for Abbott Laboratories in the Dallas area. Upon retirement, I began the pursuit of my second passion (science being my first passion), art and painting. I have had the good fortune to do a lot of European travel and see a lot of the great art in other countries. These travels and the beauty of Sedona provide a wellspring of inspiration for my paintings.

I prefer painting with oil but occasionally use acrylics. I enjoy both studio and plein air painting and the challenge of diverse subjects: landscapes, still life, portraits.  I am a member of the Sedona Art Center and frequently participate in the workshops and weekly classes there. I am also a member of the Westerners Hiking Club and enjoy hiking, Yoga, travel, and gardening.
