Village Gallery Hosts Master Craftsman Andrew Blash
The Village Gallery of Local Artists proudly hosts Master Craftsman Andrew Blash as their guest during December and January 2017. His display will highlight original hardwood designs from small boxes to full sized custom furniture influenced by his appreciation for the periods between 1600 to 1920.
Andrew is a natural born craftsman and loves working with his hands, taking satisfaction from creating artistic pieces from raw materials to exquisite completion. Early on Andrew was exposed to amazing expert craftsmen who, because of his keen interest, were willing to mentor him and share their time honored techniques.
During 40 years of woodworking experience, Andrew Blash mastered every aspect of his craft, from home building to fine antique restoration. Andrew was contracted by the Museum of Natural History in Denver to restore antique furniture. While living in Evergreen, Co., Danny Seraphine, original drummer for Chicago, and actress Farrah Fawcet were among his many clients.
Before moving to Arizona, Andrew was hired on as foreman to restore the famous Evans Ranch, summer home of Colorado’s original Governor, John Evans. This seven yearlong project involved the full restoration of buildings, wine cellar and fine antique furniture. Andrew Blash’s home and workshop are now in Cottonwood, Arizona.
On Friday, December 2nd from 5-8pm, the Village Gallery will host a reception for Andrew Blas. This free event offers refreshments and many member artists will attend. Full time freelance artist Mary Rochelle Burnham will be offering 10 minute caricature drawings. Mary says “My caricatures are always flattering and fun. They can be framed or used for target practice and make great gifts.”
The Village Gallery of Local Artists is located in the Village of Oak Creek at the roundabout on Hwy 179 and Cortez. For more information call 284-1416 or visit www.sedonalocalartists.com.
