Artist Linda Bellacicco
Art has always been a part of my life. My earliest memories were with my grandfather at his art table. He was a shoe designer for a Paris company based in the Empire State Building in Manhattan. He exposed me to color, texture, composition and form. I studied art at St. John’s University in NY and worked at various advertising agencies in Manhattan. In 1983 I won the coveted Clio award for packaging design. Although I loved my jobs, I craved to be more artistic.
I decided to learn stained glass arts. I loved it immediately. I eventually started a stained glass business in NY, where we taught stained glass, sold tools and supplies, did commission work and made kaleidoscopes. The kaleidoscopes were the fun part….thcy are beautiful to look at and through as well.
Today I make kaleidoscopes primarily in stained glass, but do dabble in brass, clay and natural materials to make the scopes. I sell them internationally. Each one is totally hand- made and an heirloom.
